Voter opposition to Scottish independence
Voters born in England, older voters, more wealthy voters, Brexit supporters, Labour and conservative voters are all most likely to oppose Scottish independence.
There’s a multitude of reasons why people aren’t in favour of independence. We take a look at them including the economy, borders, currency, whether there is real benefit to the union.
Country of Birth is a substantial driver of support for independence. Support for independence is particularly volatile amongst males aged 34-55 but remains relatively stable for other age groups. Support for independence amongst females is generally rising in all age groups.
